Alma de Rímel & The Glammatics

I made the costumes for this show by Maria Jerez.

Premiered in Buda Kunstencentrum, Kortrijk, February 2015.

“…is a concert by Maria Jerez (aka Alma de Rímel) accompanied by The Glammatics (aka Elii). This concert produces music from the creation of images. While an image is constructed, the sounds are produced. This synesthetic relation creates the base for the lyrics of the songs. This concert appears like an unexpected note from the desire to do music for the very first time, to make music with no idea of how to do it, in order to stay in the wrong tone for a longer time. The golden space where it takes place is full of objects, images, sounds and voices that are no longer identified as separated entities. The Glammatics are placed on the golden reflective floor where they display their ‘spikey’ forms and their surfaces made of mirror, velvet, leopard, fake marble, fluorescent tube, red leather, plastic, glitter, golden lacquer, air and pink steel.”

"This performance, halfway between Murder, She Wrote, a performance by David Bowie, a YouTube tutorial and a text by Derrida [...] A Russian doll procedure where the enigmatic, the celebratory and the unknown intermingle, a terrain explored in other works by María Jerez and Elii."
